I Fought Thrips for 6 Months. Here Is How I Finally Won.

It started with a single Monsteras leaf. It looked… dusty. Silvery. I wiped it off and moved on.

Two weeks later, my entire indoor jungle was at war.

The Denial Phase

I thought it was just dust. Then I thought it was sun damage. Thrips are tiny—like splinters of rice—and they hide in the newest, tightest curled leaves. By the time you see them walking around, you have thousands.

The Failed Experiments

I tried everything the internet told me to do.

1. Neem Oil: My apartment smelled like rotten garlic for weeks. The thrips didn’t care.
2. Soap Water: I sprayed every day. It killed the adults, but the eggs inside the leaf tissue hatched 3 days later.
3. Ladybugs: I released 1,500 ladybugs in my living room. Cute? Yes. Effective? No. They mostly flew into the lights and died.
