Yellow Leaves: A Step-by-Step Troubleshooting Workflow

Yellow leaves (Chlorosis) are the plant’s way of screaming for help. But what is it saying?

1. Check the Moisture (Most Common)

• Soil is soggy? Overwatering. The roots are drowning.
• Soil is bone dry? Underwatering. The plant is sacrificing older leaves to save water.

2. Check the Pattern

• Yellowing veins (green leaf)? Nutrient deficiency (likely Iron or Magnesium).
• Yellow spots? Pest damage or fungal infection.
• Oldest (bottom) leaves only? Natural aging. Pluck them off.

3. Check the Roots

If the soil is wet but the plant looks thirsty, you likely have Root Rot. Smell the soil. Does it smell like a swamp? If yes, repot immediately.
